Do I need a Muzzle Brake to use the MANAEL Barrel Tuner?
The short answer is no, You do not need a Muzzle Brake. You can use a thread protector instead.
Combining a brake and tuner gives you benefits (like maximum recoil management for better downrange precision). But brakes aren’t right for every situation.
Many shooters choose a thread protector instead to keep the rifle compact, to comply with range requirements, or just because they don’t want to use a brake.
We don’t judge! We just give you options to make a customised set-up that suits you.

Can you Swap a MANAEL Barrel Tuner between rifles?

Is it the best idea? Well, that comes down to the size of your rifle barrels and how you like to run your gear.
You will need to consider dimensions & compatibility and the convenience of tuning / re-tuning each time you swap the tuner.
Let’s explore if sharing a Barrel Tuner between multiple rifles is the right solution for you
Dimensions: Will my MANAEL Barrel Tuner fit on multiple rifles?

Check the barrel dimensions of each rifle to ensure the MANAEL Barrel Tuner is a good fit for both firearms.
- Both rifles need to have a muzzle thread. What is the diameter of the thread?
- What are the diameters of both rifle barrels?
- A tuner for a larger barrel can be used on a thinner barrel, provided the muzzle thread diameter is a good fit & the tuner can be secured
- Here’s a guide on where to measure your barrel for a MANAEL Barrel Tuner and size compatibility.
Are the dimensions of both rifle barrels compatible with your existing MANAEL Barrel Tuner?
Yes, dimensions on both rifles will fit my existing MANAEL Barrel Tuner size | You can swap your MANAEL Barrel Tuner between the rifles. |
No, dimensions are too different: One barrel is much larger/smaller or has a different thread size. | Consider getting an additional MANAEL Barrel Tuner in another size. We offer multiple size Barrel Tuners to suit various rimfire or centrefire barrel sizes. You can use a larger Barrel Tuner on a smaller barrel provided the muzzle thread diameter is the same & you get a secure fit. Click here for more about installation. We also have thread adaptor plates which can be used on some sizes of MANAEL Barrel Tuner. These will convert a larger internal muzzle thread diameter to suit some smaller muzzle threads. Convenience: Is it better to use the same Barrel Tuner for multiple rifles, or get multiple tuners?

One MANEL Barrel Tuner can be used on multiple rifles. The perfect tuning position will be different for each rifle. You may need to repeat the tuning process on each rifle and be aware of the different positions.
- If you don’t swap rifles very often: it can be an effective investment to use one MANAEL Barrel Tuner for multiple rifles.
- If you frequently reach for a different firearm: you may want to invest in a second MANAEL Barrel Tuner and have one dedicated and tuned to each rifle.
Here’s a quick look at what’s involved with identifying Barrel Tuner position to help you decide if swapping Barrel Tuners is right for you.
To identify the best MANAEL Barrel Tuner position for each rifle:
- Go through the tuning process for each rifle
- Write down the position / which timing mark / how many revolutions it took to find the best position for each rifle.
- Whenever you swap rifles, use the positions you recorded as a guide, so you know roughly the position it was in.
- You may have to do some fine tuning with every swap, but that guide will get you pretty close.
If I want to swap between rifles, which size MANAEL Barrel Tuner should I get?
If you plan on swapping the MANAEL Barrel Tuner between rifles, you will need to pick a barrel tuner size that suit both rifles. There are 2 measurements to factor in.
- Barrel Diameter: this needs to be large enough to fit your biggest barrel.
